Many studies have shown music to be a crucial element within Early Childhood Education. As your child participates in our program, they are developing their auditory senses, attention skills, memory skills, and critical thinking skills through musical ideas. And when children make music together as a group it also teaches the important life skills of cooperation, collaboration, and being a part of a team. The wide range of rhythm instruments that we utilize will allow your child to experiment with sound while helping to develop motor skills. Through singing and playing they will come to appreciate music as a wonderful part of life!
Meet Our Music Teacher
Hi! My name is Linda Kussman. I earned my bachelors degree from North Park University (Chicago) in 1984. I moved to Minnesota from Lafayette, Indiana in 2008 due to a job change for my husband. We have 3 young adult children, one son-in-law and one daughter-in-law. They are a joy to us!
Another joy in my life is teaching children. I have been giving music lessons in a variety of ways for over 25 years. This includes private flute lessons, as well as working in junior high and high schools with band students. In 2009 I began doing music and movement classes with preschoolers and joined Creative Kids Academy in 2011.
Since flute is my main instrument I enjoy opportunities to play in the Twin Cities. I frequently play at churches and also play with a jazz group which volunteers at assisted living facilities in the community to bring music to senior citizens. Each summer our group plays a concert open to the public at the Minnehaha Park Pavilion.
