Each year, childcare centers and preschools nationwide celebrate Week of the Young Child, hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). This special week highlights the importance of early childhood education, high-quality childcare, and the impact these early years have on lifelong success.

At Creative Kids Academy, we’re proud to be NAEYC accredited or recognized at each of our 13 Twin Cities childcare locations, and we love celebrating this week by bringing learning to life through hands-on, engaging experiences.

Why Early Childhood Education Matters

The early years are the foundation for lifelong success. Research shows that children enrolled in high-quality preschool programs are more likely to develop strong skills in:

  • Language and early literacy
  • Social-emotional development
  • Problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Confidence and independence

For families searching for childcare near Anoka, Apple Valley, Coon Rapids, Centerville, Elk River, Mounds View, Lexington, Maplewood, Maple Grove, Minnetonka, Orono, Zimmerman, or surrounding Twin Cities areas, choosing the right program can make a lasting difference.

How We Celebrate Week of the Young Child

Throughout Week of the Young Child at our NAEYC-accredited or recognized childcare centers, each day of the week brings a new theme designed to promote creativity, collaboration, and learning in different ways:

🎶 Music Monday

Children explore rhythm, movement, and self-expression by making instruments, dancing, and singing together—building early literacy and language skills along the way.

🍎 Tasty Tuesday

Cooking activities bring learning to life as children practice math, science, and healthy habits while preparing simple, nutritious snacks.

🤝 Work Together Wednesday

From building block towers to creating imaginative structures, children learn teamwork, communication, and problem-solving through collaborative play.

🎨 Artsy Thursday

Creativity takes center stage as children engage in open-ended art projects that encourage imagination, decision-making, and fine motor development.

📚 Family Friday

We celebrate the important role families play in a child’s education by inviting parents to connect, participate, and be part of the learning experience.
