Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing child care comes with a lot of questions, and you deserve clear answers to all of them. Here is what families ask us most about enrolling, daily life at our centers, and how we keep children safe.

Getting Started

Enrollment & Tuition

Can I schedule a tour before enrolling?

Absolutely. We encourage families to visit, meet our teachers, explore the classrooms, and see the environment in person before making a decision. Schedule a tour online, or contact your preferred location to find a time that works for you.

How far in advance should I enroll?

Availability varies by age group and location. Infant classrooms often fill several months in advance, while openings for older children may become available sooner. We recommend contacting your preferred location as early as possible to discuss availability, schedule a tour, or join the waitlist if needed.

How do I reserve a spot for my child?

Complete the enrollment process and pay the non-refundable registration fee along with your first week of tuition. Your space is then held for you until your scheduled start date.

What does my tuition cover?

Tuition includes up to 10 hours of care per day, educational programming, classroom supplies, and breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon snack. Our enrichment programs are included at no additional cost, though offerings vary by location. If care is needed beyond 10 hours in a day, an additional fee applies.

Are there scholarships or financial assistance available?

Yes. At all locations we accept the Minnesota Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP), Early Learning Scholarships, Child Care Aware for eligible military families, and grants through participating educational institutions. We also offer child care discounts for Creative Kids Academy employees.

What curriculum do you use?

Our Learning Beyond curriculum combines hands-on exploration, play-based learning, and intentional instruction to build confidence, curiosity, and kindergarten readiness. Lessons are designed to support every area of development while making learning fun.

What is the teacher-to-child ratio?

We follow Minnesota Rule 3 teacher-to-child ratios: 4:1 for infants, 7:1 for toddlers, 10:1 for preschool, and 15:1 for school age.

What time should my child arrive?

We recommend arriving by 8:30 a.m. so your child can settle in and take part in morning activities and classroom routines. That said, every family runs on a different schedule, and we offer flexible options. If your child has an appointment or needs to come in later, that is no problem at all. We just ask that you let your center know in advance when you can.

Do you offer a preschool program?

Yes. We offer a full-day preschool program at every location. Our STEAM-based curriculum combines hands-on learning, social-emotional development, and kindergarten readiness, and parent-teacher conferences are held twice a year to talk through your child progress.

What should my child bring on their first day?

What your child needs varies by age, and we will send you a checklist before their first day. Most children need a change of clothes, weather-appropriate outdoor gear, and any age-specific items such as diapers, wipes, formula or breastmilk, a sleep sack or blanket, and bottles.

How do classroom transitions work?

As children grow and develop, they move up to the next classroom when they are developmentally ready. Before moving up, children spend time visiting their new room, getting to know their new teachers, and becoming comfortable in the new environment. We partner with families every step of the way so the transition is a positive experience for everyone.

Do you have a parent communication system?

Yes. We use the Procare Connect app to keep families connected all day. You will get real-time updates on meals, diapers, naps, activities, milestones, and photos, plus announcements, newsletters, and event reminders. The app also makes it easy to message your child teachers directly.

Health & Safety

What security measures do you have in place?

Keeping children safe is our highest priority. Our centers use secure entry systems, and building access codes are given only to authorized individuals. Anyone without a code must ring the doorbell and present a valid photo ID before being admitted or authorized to pick up a child.

Safety goes beyond our doors. Teachers conduct frequent headcounts, practice active supervision at all times, follow strict procedures for arrivals, departures, and emergencies, and receive ongoing training in emergency response and child safety.

Are your staff CPR and First Aid certified?

Yes. Staff receive CPR, First Aid, and emergency preparedness training in accordance with Minnesota licensing requirements, along with ongoing health and safety training throughout the year.

Can I bring in medication?

Yes. We can administer prescription medications and certain over-the-counter medications in line with our medication policy. Prescription medication must arrive in its original labeled container, and every medication requires a completed medication form before it can be given. Whether an over-the-counter medication can be administered depends on the type and the instructions provided. Your center director can answer questions about a specific medication.

What types of sleep sacks are approved?

For safe sleep, only standard one-layer sleep sacks are permitted. If you have a question about a specific sleep sack, please check with your center director before bringing it in.
